HOMAN’S EXCHANGE THEORIES – BEHAVIORISTS PROPOSITIONS “Greg Plitt motivational”

I chose a Greg PLitt fitness blog to represent a few of the behaviorists propositions of Homan’s Exchange Theory. He presents some common problems of why people fail and some solutions presented in a plan. In this plan and reasons for failure they represent some of the positives and negatives in which the propositions go hand in hand with each other. For example, The Deprivation-Satiation Proposition and Success Proposition. There are a few exchanges of bad language, nothing major, but I think is just used in passion of the subject and for emphasis. I apoligize if it offends anyone.

One of Greg’s presented problems is when he describes how people start a new goal, but don’t follow through because they lose the motivation for several reasons. One of those reasons is that they were not seeing any results quick enough. They think that they will get in shape in a few weeks and suddenly change years of bad eating habits while having a static lifestyle, in turn they give up. This is a great example of the Deprivation-Satiation Proposition which is the principle of diminishing returns. The individual is going a long time of no reward, and in turn loses interest, quits, and gives up.

Greg uses the metaphor of grasping the golden egg, and once you reach that sense of accomplishment it will lead to more will power in wanting achieve more and more in life. He talks about having a partner and making yourself accountable for not only yourself, but your partner. As a result when you go through times when you are not feeling it, but find the will power to push through it. In the end, you feel that sense of pride and relief of found energy, and in return you will go into life with a better attitude and confidence. This leads to a better day, month, then year, and so on. This represents the Success Proposition where the person is rewarded more often for their success which leads to wanting to continue these actions of progression, much like a cycle.
